Iran has always been a favorite spot for purchasing gold: a bracelet, a pendant, a small gift for someone special or for ourselves and all without having to bleed money.
What we know less, is that there’s an art decorating this gold, dating back to some 5000 years ago. This art is called “Mina-Kaari” literally meaning “work of enamel”. It has been practiced by a unique ethnicity residing in south-west Iran (same spot which was once home to Sumerians).
There are only a small number of Sabian families who have mastered this ancient art and passed it through generations with care and love for their Mandanic traditions.
The Zahrouni showroom in Tehran is a museum on its own: on display, masterpieces from great Maestros are showcased alongside more recent works. There is a wide selection of pendants, bracelets, rings and earrings to choose from. Whilst some designs might be more reserved for special occasions, the majority of their styles are suitable for daily wear.
If you love art and high jewellery and happened to be in Tehran, I highly recommend you visiting their show room. From symbolic flowers painted in smallest of details, to choice of colours, their rich heritage is a delight to any art lover.
